Wouldn't it be possible to uninstall the current driver somehow? I'm not quite sure what to do short of installing a new independent NIC. The server is a DL G5. Hey, to me this sounds like a windows issue if there's a software component blocking installation of another one. If the network card is working, why would it be a hardware HP's problem?
